Kouro

Here are the jars, kouro, and other objects not covered in the vases section of the website. See here for the Japanese cloisonne 七宝 vase imagebank. Sometimes it is difficult to tell the difference between a ‘jar’ and a ‘kouro’ or incense burner. Both may have tripod legs. A kouro (香炉 or こうろ) usually has a lid with regularly spaced holes. Age means that many lids have been lost however.
